Blog Migration

I have assisted a number of people in various stages of moving their blogs. I do everything from providing suggestions or assisting with hitches to moving the entire blog. For example, I moved Living Almost Large from Blogger to a self-hosted Wordpress after she ran into a major snag in the move which kept the automatic import from working.

LAL writes:

Ms. Crafty was kind enough to help me import and move my blog from blogger to a self-hosted blog. This new format seems to be working out well.

I also migrate Wordpress installations from one host to another. Says the owner of Ultimate Money Blog:

Wordpress Setup/Use

From a client whom I assisted in getting a Wordpress blog running, modifying a theme, learning to use Wordpress’s software, etc.:

Ms. Crafty has been a big help to my efforts to redesign my blog and to add functionality to it. I am hopeless at technical tasks. She not only knows how just about everything works, she knows how to explain what she knows in words that a non-techie can understand and she doesn’t get grumpy when the non-techie asks pathetic questions of her.

She is extremely responsive. I have expressed amazement on more than one occasion with the speed with which she is able to turn things around. Her response is that she enjoys working with this stuff. It shows. I don’t enjoy it even a tiny little but, but I enjoy seeing her help me add new powers to my blog.

Theme Customization

Ben at Milk Your Money asked me to address an issue with their navigation bar. He writes:

We had been having trouble getting our navigation buttons just right for an upcoming debut and had asked several “gurus” how to go about remedying it. While discussing it with some fellow members of the MoneyLifeNetwork, one referred me to Ms. Crafty. I knew that she had done some work for him and he was extremely pleased with her assistance. So I shot her an email and after a few questions, the entire issue was resolved flawlessly and quite eloquently.

It was a level of service that I was not expecting as most forums take hours and usually involve an amazing amount of fluff to plow through. She is definitely on my short list in case I need help again and I feel good knowing that it would be money well spent.

I offer usability testing and general site/advertising optimization consulting. That One Caveman writes:

Ongoing Blog Maintenance

For those who want to concentrate on their content instead of tinkering with their sites, I offer an ongoing blog management service. Larry Brooks of Storyfix writes:
