Pricing Philosophy and Sample Prices
Because every site and blogger have unique needs, I have a hard time setting prices to go on the site. I charge based on what I’ll actually be doing for you and am willing to adjust my services to exactly what you need. That’s good news for you.
Even if you’re not sure whether you’d be able to afford something, I suggest you contact me anyway. Perhaps it won’t cost as much as you think. Or I can point you towards some tutorials or web information which will help you learn how to do it yourself. Let’s talk.
Generally my rate is $40/hour but some services, such as blog migration, are charged at a flat fee depending on various factors. Here are some sample prices based on what I’ve charged in the past:
- Blog Setup: $85-$250. Really depends how much you need and what you want set up. My setup page has more information on everything I offer.
- Blog Migration: $100+. I’ll move any existing blog from the previous installation—Blogger, Typepad (generally), Wordpress.com, anything that can be migrated. Cost for moving a self-hosted Wordpress blog between hosts is similar. If you’re not sure about whether yours can be moved, ask!
- Wordpress Theme Customization: $20-100+. I don’t create individual themes yet but I can do all kinds of customization, including Thesis work. So if you have a tiny thing you want fixed, then it might only cost $20. If it’s something bigger like moving or splitting a sidebar, then you’re looking at something more along the lines of $25-70, etc.
- Usability Testing: $40-75. A basic usability test costs $40. It can be longer, targeted, and/or combined with advertising and SEO suggestions.
This gives you a rough idea of my price range. Other items in the blog services list should be similarly priced but are probably so flexible that I can’t give a simple estimate.
Every site is different. Let’s talk about what I can do for yours!
